Chelan-Douglas Land Trust was founded in 1984 by a small group of neighbors who watched the shrub-steppe hills above Wenatchee changing quickly, and wanted a way to keep some of that land wild, working, and open to the people who love it.
Forty years later, that founding idea still holds: conservation here isn't handed down from outside, it's built one relationship at a time — with a rancher considering an easement, a family donating a trail corridor, a neighbor showing up for a Saturday work party. We're a community-supported nonprofit, funded by members and guided by a volunteer board of local residents.
Today we steward more than 26,600 acres across Chelan and Douglas counties: sagebrush hillsides, basalt canyons, river frontage, and working lands, protected permanently through conservation easements and land ownership.
