Rolling shrub-steppe hills and a seasonal lake, minutes from downtown Wenatchee.
Horse Lake Reserve sits in the sagebrush hills above Wenatchee, part of the larger Wenatchee Foothills preserve network protected in partnership with local landowners and the community. Trails climb gently through native bunchgrass and sagebrush toward views back over the Columbia River valley.
The reserve's namesake lake is seasonal, filling with spring runoff and drawing waterfowl and other wildlife through early summer. Interconnected trails link the reserve to neighboring preserves, so a short loop can easily become a longer exploration.
